Remote audit standard ISO 17912:2024 - A new standard for audits and digital quality processes

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) published guidelines for conducting ‘remote audits’ in the third quarter of 2024.

The remote audit standard 17012-2024 defines a new global standard for remote audits and addresses the growing demands for flexibility, efficiency and sustainability in audit processes. This standard defines clear specifications and framework conditions for conducting audits that are no longer tied to physical presence and offers companies an ideal opportunity to future-proof their quality and compliance processes.

At a time when digitalisation and global collaboration play a central role, ISO 17912:2024 offers numerous advantages:

  • Conduct audits regardless of location and time zone
  • Minimise travel expenses
  • Ensure compliance with the required standards
  • Unchanged quality and efficiency of audits
  • Standardised procedures for digital audit processes in line with standards
  • Clear guidelines for companies and auditors

QS1 - efficient implementation of the remote audit standard

At QSC, we recognised the potential of this standard for modern quality management systems early on. With QS1, we can support companies in seamlessly integrating the requirements of the Remote Audi Standard 17012-2024 into their existing processes. Our software enables comprehensive digitalisation of audit processes, from preparation to implementation and documentation. By using QS1, companies can organise their remote audits efficiently, create reports in real time and store all data in an audit-proof manner.

Another advantage of our solution is its integration into existing ERP and quality systems. This ensures complete traceability and guarantees that even complex requirements such as those defined in ISO 17912:2024 can be met.

This not only makes remote audits easier, but also provides a basis for future-oriented quality management.

Audits still have the function of analysing and evaluating conformity with internal requirements and those of customers, laws, authorities and standards.

With the new standard and the appropriate software support from QSC, companies are creating the basis for modern audit processes that are not only more efficient, but also more sustainable. ISO 17912:2024 is a further step towards a digitally networked and resource-efficient future.

QS1 offers a solution to effectively map the central requirements of this standard:

Digital documentation and evidence collection

QS1 makes it possible to provide all relevant evidence, guidelines and documents securely and centrally on one platform. Both parties - auditors and companies - can access audit documents in a targeted manner so that not only the audit report but all necessary documents can be shared.

Virtual interviews and assessments

Interviews with key personnel and the review of processes can be conducted via common video conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams. QS1 ensures the structured management and processing of the audit order in parallel and thus supports efficient process management.

Secure data management

QS1 meets the requirements of the GDPR and ensures secure management of sensitive data. The platform enables audit-proof storage as well as controlled and needs-based data disposal, which fulfils the strict data protection standards of the standard.

Global certification options

QS1 offers an optimal solution for companies with a global presence. Sites worldwide can be audited in a standardised and comprehensive manner, enabling a seamless certification process across all subsidiaries.
